cats and cactus

just wondering if Zygo cactus are poisonous to cats.

Hi Debbie,

I can find no evidence of cactus of any kind being poisonous to cats but the spines could cause a puncture with subsequent infection.  Poinsettias are poisonous, however, and you'll find a lot of them around at this time of year so try to keep any you might have away from your kitties.  Mistletoe, also, is no good for the cats so be sure they don't get into that, either.
That's a great question, though, I never even thought about cacti and cats-I learn as many new things through this site as I impart.
