Leaving kittens on vacation

Question
Hi Norman,
We have recently gotten two Devon Rex kittens from the same litter, they are almost 4 months old.  They have been with us for two weeks.  We have a chance to go away in about 3 weeks time.  I am wondering if that is to soon to leave the kittens?  Is it better to have someone come once a day to feed & play or if we should put them in a kennel that specializes in cats?  I would appreciate any input you have as I don't want to damage any bond that has formed or create stress for the kittens.  Thank you for your time,
Helen

Answer
Helen,

After 3 weeks, your Devon kittens should be pretty well adjusted to your household.  It is always better to have a RELIABLE kitty sitter come in and feed and play with your kittens.  They will do better in their home environment than in a kennel.

Just take the usual precautions to make sure there is nothing untoward they can get into while you are away Devon kittens are pretty bright asnd mischevious).  Also, make sure your kitty sitter has your phone number (where you will be) and your vet's phone number just in case.  Another idea is to have your kitty sitter call you at pre-arranged times every few days or once a week to report on how things are going, so you can have peace of mind while you are away.

Best regards... Norm.
