A hard lump in my cats throat

Hello, yesterday I found a hard quartersized lump in my cats throat it is not under the skin but in the actual throat muscle. I am really scared that he is really sick. He is uncomfortable when it is touched. He has been play biting me really hard lately. He is approximately a 3 year old siamese burmon who is otherwise in good health and has had all of his yearly shots. I am a graduate student and dont have a lot of money. If you could give me some type of feedback I would greatly appreciate it.

Is it possible that your cat swallowed something that has gotten stuck there?  Is he having trouble swallowing?  I would say you need to get to a vet to get this checked out.  Its unlikely that it will be something like a tumor at such a young age but it may be something that keeps growing and prevents him from eating.  I would at least go get a consultation and see what the vet thinks.
