What males are like after being used in a breeding program

Question
Hi,
I am thinking about adopting a Male Siamese who is in a shelter. They have no real background on him except that he is "pure" Siamese and might have been used in a breeding program. I am not sure which breeds that you work with, but in your experience do males spray after being fixed if they were in a breeding program? I have no other cats at this time, but would like to get a female Siamese later (who would be fixed before entering our house). Any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Stephanie.

Most males, even those used in a breeding program lose their male tendencies by 6 weeks after being neutered.  Rarely do neutered males spray (even if used for breeding).

When you are ready to get your new female, please let me know and I will give you a pretty good protocol for introducing the female into the household with your established pet.

Best regards... Norm.
