Reintroducing cat after an operation

Question
We have two cats, Talon, a Siamese mix and Shadow a short-hair mix. Both are fixed males. Recently Talon had an operation due to a blocked urinary tract. He's been home two days and Shadow will not go near Talon and hisses if Talon gets close. Shadow has even hissed at me when I try to separate them. I understand that this is likely due to Talon smelling different from meds and his hospital stay. My question is how can I help reconnect these two who were raised as brothers if I can't get them close to each other?

Answer
HI this is a common problem and is called trauma aggression. Normally this will calm down after a few days and is generally not a problem. Try stroking one cat and then the other to spread the scent etc

There is no magic solution to the problem is simply a matter of time and for the cats to rebuild their confidence in each other again. Don't worry it will subside it just may take some time.

best wishes
