cat -pooping outside litter box

Question
How can I stop cat from pooping on floor.  I have a 17 yr old siamese that stopped using litter box for poop at night.  Nothing changed in many years, medically fine. Have 2 cats, two litter boxes, cleaned daily.  I tried putting her in room with litter box at night but will make a foot away from box but will use box during the day.

Hi Bobbie,

This may be a simple fix. Since she has checked out fine medically I would say it may be just environmental. Try a night light by the litter box. See how that does. She is up in age and may not be able to see too good. She is in the right area but may not be too sure of the box. Try this and see how it works. Good luck.
