Kitten eats litter

I have a kitten about 6 weeks old,and when i put him in his litter box he eats the litter.Why does he do that?

A lot of kittens do that. They are curious. Some kittens lick everything to learn taste and texture. And if they think something might be food, they don't want to miss out!

BUT until your kitten grows out of it, and he will, use clay litter not scoopable. Have you ever seen what scoopable does when you pour water on it? Well, it will do that in the kitten's throat and/or intestines and could cause a blockage which is a serious, painful condition, not to mention an expensive vet visit.
