Sour under nose and mouth

Question
I noticed a few days ago my cat had a sour under his nose. Its very red and looks like an open sour. Today I noticed its also on his mouth. And he makes funny mouth movements. He otherwise seems fine. Eats good and still goes outside and sleeps like normal. But it does not seem to heal.

What could this possible be, Thank you!

I am not a vet, but it sounds to me like it might be "rodent" ulcers, which are caused by a herpes virus. Anyway, were it my kitty, I would whisk it off to the vet, as there are a number of other things it could be!!!!!!!!!!
