Question
i have a selkirk rex at the vets at the moment being tested for fiv/felv, i am a breeder of cornish rex as well, i'm at my wits end as she has 5 kittens as well, i have just inported a girl from swenden, if she tests postive for these what do i need to do to protect my breeding queens.

Answer
Dear Lorraine

First of all, I would suggest you wait and see what the results show.  If she has been an indoor cat since birth and has only been to tested stud cats then it is likely she will not have anything.

If she has either FeLV of FIV then you will need to also test your other 'in contact' cats.  Only then can you plan a way forward.

When you have some test results then come back to me with them and I will try to help.  Until you know what you are dealing with it is difficult to advise.

Marcia
