Chows hip

Question
Our chow seemed extremely sensitive to our touch last night and this morning on her right rear hip. She made a sharp yip, very unusual -- seemed to react in that way to petting her ear as well, but she's not limping and seemed OK on her walk earlier today. Neither the ear nor the hip seem to be tender now.

She is only 7 years old, has already had both ACL's operated on . . .

Wonder if we should have the vet look at her.

Answer
Hi BJ!  Since your dog has had ACL problems in the past and was exhibiting signs of discomfort, I would definitely have your vet look at her.  It may be something with her ACL again and she is just so uncomfortable at times, she doesn't want to be touched anywhere...or she may have simply pulled something, ect.  Being that she yelped, which as you said was unusual, she must have had some moderate pain, as a dog will hide it's pain as much as they can.  Since she doesn't seem tender today, it may have been just a pull or strain...but it's better to be safe than sorry so a vet visit would maybe be best.  I hope this helps and I wish I could offer more help.
