SKIN FLAKING AFTER CHANGING FOODS

Question
I HAVE AN 11 MONTH OLD BULLMASTIFF.I WAS WONDERING IF CHANGING FROM SCIENCE DIET FOOD TO WELLNESS FOOD WOULD CAUSE SKIN FLAKING? AFTER I GIVE HER A BATH SHE REALLY FLAKES ALOT JUST LIKE DANDRUFF. I USE HEXADENE SHAMPOO AND A GLOVE WITH LITTLE MASSAGING PIECES ON IT. AFTER SHE DRIES I BRUSH HER REALLY GOOD TO LOOSEN ALL THAT SKIN AND THEN RINSE HER OFF AGAIN AND SHES FINE UNTIL I GIVE HER A BATH AGAIN. THIS HAS ONLY BEEN 2 WEEKS NOW. I CALLED WELLNESS AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS THE TOXINS FROM THE SCIENCE DIET COMING OUT CAUSING HER SKIN TO FLAKE AND THAT IT WOULD GET BETTER. IS THIS TRUE ABOUT THE TOXINS COMING OUT?
COULD YOU RECCOMEND ANOTHER SHAMPOO THAT IS GOOD BUT NOT AS EXPENSIVE ALSO.THANK YOU

Answer
I have never heard of the science diet causing toxins. To me that sounds kind of strange. It could be your shampoo drying out her skin. Or she could possibly even be allergic. I recommend getting a moisturizing shampoo for dogs. You can find something at wal-mart or your local pet store. I use Hartz Infusions with vitamin beads. If says right on the bottle that it moisturized dry, flaky skin. It was I think a little over 2 or 3 dollars, and it lasts a long time. Also, make sure you are getting all of the shampoo out of her coat after you give her a bath. And you don't need to bath dogs more than once a week. That could also dry out their skin. Well, try the shampoo (I got it from wal-mart), and make sure you rinse her well, and see if that helps. If not, call your vet if it continues to be a problem. I hope I helped. Have a great night.
