QuestionHi,
I have a Yorkie male that I've breed to three different females and each litter has ben all male.
Someone told me that it is possible that my male carries only the X chromosone and he can only throw male pups.
Could this be?
AnswerThe defining characteristic of a fertile male is that it is of the phenotype XY. If there is an extra X chromosome present, XXY, a trisomy occurs and this will result in an infertile male. If the Y chromosome is completely absent (XX) the result will be a female.
Since your male is obviously fertile, this appears to be a case of unlikely statistical distribution as best I can tell.
