golden retriever pigment change lips

Question
Hi, my golden is 3 years old and has always been in good health other than seasonal hot spots every spring which we treat with prednisone. When I went home yesterday she now has a pink spot on her lower front lip approx 2-3 cm in size with no sores or blistering and it doesn't appear to be painful. Any ideas? I called my vet but he wouldn't answer any questions without an office visit. thanks

Answer
Hi - sometimes they can have some pigmentation discolorations.  It can be diet related.  Have you changed her diet lately?
Has she been on Prednisone this summer?

Let me know...Thanks
