Injured outdoor cat

QUESTION: We have an outdoor cat named Austin, who's about a year old. She's not very friendly and she will not let you touch her, and catching her with a trap never works, because she's never hungry enough to fall for that. But just a few days ago, she must have got in a fight or something, because she's got a gash on the back of her neck that's about a couple of centimeters deep, and all of the hair is missing around it. She keeps scratching at it, so I'm afraid it's not going to heal, but it looks very clean. I just want to know if it will heal on it's own, because I'd hate for something horrible to happen to her, and I can't get her to a vet.
