Question
I found a male wild house sparrow in my back yard a few hours ago.it was pouring down rain and the bird was just sitting on the ground(I've encountered this before when it's raining and the bird was wet and I would put it in a box with a towel to dry off then let it go) that is exactly what I did this time and that is when I noticed it had all of its tale feathers missing. I was wondering if I should keep it until its' tale feathers grow back or if I should just take it to the vet.(but I don,t know if they can do birds) but that is all I was wondering. thanks.

Answer
You should take it someplace where they re-hab wild birds. Song Sparrows, house sparrows and most of these birds are protected and you don't want the fine that comes with having one.

The bird might have lost it's tail feathers from a cat, or it could be a late summer baby and they haven't all grown in yet or it's molting them out.

Either way, the bird should go to a wild life center or a vets.
