pink eye in cats

Question
can pink eye be transmitted between humans and pets? can this be prevented?

Answer
While I know for a fact that bacterial conjunctivitis (which is what pink eye is) is contagious between people, I have never heard of or seen that is it transmissible between species.

I know that viral conjunctivitis is not contagious between species.
If the bacterial kind was extremely contagious I would think that those in the veterinary field would have it more often then we do.

So unless you touch a cats eyes with it and then rub yours directly, I would say it's not extremely contagious but possibly so.

Any good hygiene can prevent this for anyone. I got it from a keyboard once so just washing your hands or using hand gel will prevent it.
