QuestionHi, I have a new neighbor who has a pitbull and 3 pups that are pitbull and rotweiller mixes, really cute. One of the puppies is so tiny and thin, you can see her ribs. The other two are 3 x's her size. My neighbor said that she has been eating. Any thoughts? Could she have worms? He said he hasn't noticed anything in her stool. I have a golden retriever, should I be worried about him spending time with the pup? Any suggestions are welcomed at this point. Thanks.
AnswerHi Nadine! I would not let your golden retreiver interact with these pups until they are vet checked. This is probably an intestinal parasite...the only way to diagnose most intestinal parasites would be through a fecal examination under a microscope by a veterinarian. Most intestinal parasites can not be seen with the naked eye. If these pups are not vaccinated, they may also be carrying canine distemper, parvo, ect...which are deadly diseases and highly contagious. Your neighbor really should take the pups to his veterinarian for a puppy checkup as soon as possible.
I hope this has been helpful!
