Questionhello hilary i have a problem.. my 8 month old beagle has been
limping for about a few days now and he gets better and than
starts limping again.. it either one back leg or the other..he does
not cry but occasionally limps. what should i do???
AnswerHi Anneliese. I would definately think this could be a strain, muscle or tendon. Try to keep his activity as restricted as possible for a few days and see how he does. It should begin to improve and heal completely. If he is still limping after the weekend, a vet visit would be in order. Because he is only limping and not yelping, there shouldn't be a break. Try palpating his leg by gently rubbing it from top to bottom. If he yelps at any point, it would be best to have your veterinarian perform an x-ray on the area to be sure there are no breaks. If he does not yelp, this would mean more of a muscle, tendon pull/strain.
I hope this helps and please let me know how that little guy does!
Please give him tons of get well kisses for me!
