My new puppy cocker spaniel

Question
I just got a new puppy about 48 hours ago. He has been following me around CONSTANTLY, but I think he just needs time to adjust. The breeder I bought him from said that he would use newspaper to use the restroom. He did like the first 12 hours, but then things have gone down hill. Over night (I've had him two nights) he uses the living room as his poopy floor! What concerns me is that I found a little bit of throw up near the area (it's small, but thick and sticky). This morning, he would not eat until about 10:30. Should I hold off and wait to see if he comes out of it, or should I be worried. Also, he has bad gas sometimes, which I never knew dogs had and his stomach growls very loudly. You can hear it even standing a few feet from him. Please help.

Answer
Hi there.

take the puppy to your vet first of all for a post purchase exam. You want to make sure he is healthy. Dont take the breeders word for it.

Your puppy is traumatized. Imagine leaving mom and all those other puppies and now just to have a new person to adjust too?

Try crate training. There are great books out on it, and ask your veterinary staff about it too. Thats what they are there for :)
