algae or parasite or other

For the last 5-6 weeks I have had tiny red dots all over the aquarium. I thought it was some type of algae until today when I observed them crawling on the glass. They do not stick to the glass but return in a day after wiping them off. I would like to get rid of them. what are they?

Its possible you have some kind of flat worm. Do they look similar to this: http://www.melevsreef.com/id/flatworms.jpg If so the best way to get rid of them would be to remove as many as you can with a vacuum while cleaning the tank before administering something to kill them. If you kill them first and there is alot it can pollute your tank so its best to get rid of as many as possible first. Your local fish store should have something to kill them. Hope this helps.
