Saltwater/high ammonia

Question
I have a 55gal bowfront I converted to saltwater about 6 / 8 weeks ago.Live sand, about 30lb of live rock , good filter, power head for current, protien skimmer. Ive had 4 damsels (1 to 1.5in) for about a week and a half yesterday bought a 2in Trigger, 3in Lion and a 4in goby. This morning I fed them about 6 krill two did not get ate. Mr Goby hasent looked good and he just went belly up.  I checked the ammonia and it was .50. 5 days ago it was 0.  Is this to many fish?  I'll be doing a water change out after dinner am I in danger of loising my lion, or trigger.  They seem to be a little dosle but still moving.
Thanks
Ken

Answer
hi ken, you have added too many fish too soon by the looks of it. the thing with marine is you have to have patience, it was 3 months before i added any fish to my tank.

also the fish you have chosen are really incompatible with each other, as the lion fish grows it will probably try and eat the smaller fish, the lion and trigger will very quickly out grow a 55gal tank too. they will need a minimum of 150gal tank to live happily together. you also need to make sure you have adequate mechanical filtration and skimming on the tank, the lion fish are mucky fellas.

if i were you i would return the lion and triger back to the shop (and the damsels too if they will take them) give your tank enough time to cycle and then do some reserch on the fish you think you wan't before you buy them
