Question
I pulled my corals to bleach them, but I had grabbed the wrong bleach, Clorox HE......it contains lye of all things. Didn't realize it until it was too late. I had the corals in the sink along with the bleach and began adding water and it started to foam!!!!!! I have been trying to remove the soap ever since. Any ideas!!!! Please

Answer
Hi Sherrie,

To help out in this situation, you could try running them through a couple of hot water washes in your dish washer, of course without using any detergents / soaps.

You could also gently pressure wash them in the drive way of your home, taking extra care not to break any of them.

You could also try carefully boiling them in water, taking extra care not to break any of them while boiling.

In conclusion, lye is poisonous and very corrosive, if you cannot successfully clean and fully rid your coral decorations of it, then I would recommend to not use them in an aquatic submersed environment with marine life.

David
