RO filter

Question
Hello!
I got a few RO q's.

I want to buy an RO filter for my SW tank, for obvious reasons. However, I'm not exactly sure what to buy or how to set it up.
I'm thinking of the Coralife Pure Flo 24gpd 2 or 3 stage model. I see it for around $120, but it doesn't look like it comes with much. It's just the RO filter but nothing else.

So this makes me think. I KNOW that there are other things you need to buy to make these things work. But what exactly? I would probably need some kind of holding thing, like a small tank or a bucket, and maybe a bladder of some sort, and a pump, and a faucet I think. Not sure exactly though.

SO, my questions summed up. What other things do I need to buy to get an RO filter to work properly, besides just the filter. And what is your estimated cost for all this? (canadian dollars).

Also, how often do you need to replace the media in a 2-stage? I've heard the membrane is every year or so, but I need an expert opinion on this.

Thanks!

Answer
Hey Nobe

water flows first through a carbon pre-filter, which removes organic contaminants including chlorine and its by products. after, it enters the reverse osmosis membrane, a very tight filter, that allows water to pass but stops dissolved solids like sodium and impurities like lead and arsenic. The purified water is stored in a small storage tank until it is needed. When the ledge faucet mounted on the sink is opened, the purified water is forced by air pressure through another carbon filter, which gives it a final polish and from there to the ledge faucet.

So basically, they run off of air pressure, you wont need a pump unless your water pressure in your house is less than 40 PSI. With media switching, ive heard 8 months to a year, i would say 8 months is the best. I would say your total cost is about $200

ive heard good things about this seller, and his ebay auction has alot of extra RO info. If you have any further questions, feel free to to ask me a follow-up question
