cleaning sandbed in saltwater aquarium

what can I clean old aquarium sand and new sand?  Can I use regular tap water to clean old sand? Can I use tap water to rinse off new sand?
I am changing to larger tank wanting to utilize my old sand and new sand.

Hi William. You can rinse off your old sand and any new sand you may get in your regular tap water. Just drain as much of the water out of it when finished. Your sand will be fine. Do not ever rinse live sand before placing it into your tank this will destroy the living quality of it!
