creatures on the glass??

The mystery strands Hello, I have a 35 gallon saltwater tank. Currently the only things in it are crabs, snails, one deep purple sea urchin and a porcupine puffer fish. Recently I discovered thin silk-like strands on the glass and they have extremely tiny white balls on them. is this a form of algae or could it be something like eggs from one of the creatures?

Hi Shelby. From your picture these things look to me like snail eggs. Most snails will lay eggs in the aquarium however very rarely will the newly hatched snails make it to adulthood. As newly hatched larva most of them do not make it due to predation and the filtration system in your tank. Some may and you may see tiny snails crawling around in a couple days but don't be disappointed if you don't. This event is uncommon in a non-reef tank.
