Saltwater Aquarium - Cloudy Water

Question
I'm having some issues!! I have a 55 gallon corner tank, saltwater, it has been
up for about 6 months, i have 2 clown fish, 2 damsels, lawnmower blenny,
mandarin goby & 2 crabs and 3 snails. My water has turned very cloudy/hazy.
I took water to several pet stores to be checked, levels checked out ok,
ammonia a little high.  I have done 3 water changes in the last month, and
nothing has helped.  I have a Seaclone 100 skimmer and Emperpr Power
Filter.  Any suggestions?

Answer
Ok, may I say I don't like the power filter. I have always had problems with them, and find them not to do a good enough job. If the power filter is a must for you to have, look into changing the filter media, also put a filter sock with some charcoal in it (charcoal for marine tanks). Here is a suggestion though, invest in a good canister filter. Also let me say, that is mostly mechanical filtration, some biological. You need some more biologic filtration, weather it be live sand and rock, or if you are not looking for that natural look, you can go with a refugium/sump. They are expensive if you buy one retail, but they are fairly easy to build out of 20 gal tanks. Then you are actually adding more water volume which is a good thing. Oh one other thing check to make sure your skimmer is working properly.
