I want to add a naso blonde tang with streamers and a blue tang. What are my chances of sucess.

Answer
Hello John,

Your chances are very good, however keep in mind tangs aren't the easiest fish to house.

I was once told not to add more than one of each type of tang, and I do not agree with this.

In the wild, they are seen in schools, not alone.  They love hanging around together and although very dominant in an aquarium, there are ways to introduce them together that work for some folks.

I had six yellow tang, and 4 other varieties totalling 10 tang successfully living in our aquarium, when I had the huge aquarium.

I would recommend adding the additional tangs asap.  The younger your tang, the easier it is for them all to grow up together.  Add the new tangs together, the same day, and before you do, rearrange the rockwork so the purple tang is more interested in the atmosphere than the other tangs.

Chances are, with 2, he won't become dominant.  It's too hard to chase both at the same time.

The sad thing is if one tang is singled out by others, he will be pecked until he dies, and it's very sad to see them go through that, so do it while they are young, rearrange rockwork and see if it doesn't do the trick.

The first day is always rough on all of them.  They usually chase each other around some, but if someone's fins get shredded, he should be permanently removed, as he will be nothing but a target forever.

Good luck and I certainly hope this helps.
