Tap water for a water change?

Question
How long should tap water sit before using it for a water change? I have several plastic bottles (1 gal size) filled just for that purpose. I have a 55 & three 10 gallon tanks to change.

Answer
Hello,

Tap water should sit for 24 hours before using it in your aquarium, unless you add dechlorinator in which case it can be used right away. While it is sitting, it helps disperse the chlorine it you agitate the water with an airstone.

I hope this helps.

Good-luck,
