power outage, how long can my fish survive without air

HELP!!! My power has been out for several hours now. How long can my fish go without air in the tank before it becomes an emergency.

Hi Lynda,
A freshwater fish will last about 24 hours without a heater. You will need to get lots of blankets to cover the tank to try and stop the heat from escaping. Some hot water bottles may also help. Fill them with luke warm water and place them in the tank.
