Question
Hi,
I had kept lots of angelfish but they died and only one is left. Just today I realized that she was a female when she laid eggs. Like i said she was the only one that survived so she didn't have a male to fertilize the eggs. HELP!
Thanks

Answer
Hi Clarissa,
Sorry to hear about the Angelfish. Make sure there isn't a bad water quality issue going on. Angelfish are very sensitive to any ammonia or nitrites in the water. And if the nitrates are too high  (20 or less is recommended) it can cause them to be really sickly also. So just be sure that your water quality is good for the sake of the remaining angelfish. A couple of 30-50% water changes would be great as a precaution.

Since the female laid eggs without a male obviously they just aren't going to hatch, they will likely fungus over or be eaten by other fish. Sometimes its really hard to pair up angelfish again. You could try looking for some large angels that are a bit smaller than your current female and getting about 6 of those. She might pick out a male from the group and they will pair up hopefully.

I hope this helps, best of luck!
Karen~
