Unknown if serious Betta Scales

Question
Good Afternoon,  I have a betta who is acting fine (swimming constantly, acts hungry all the time) but in the last couple of days we have noticed that he has lost 2 little scales.  One on his side and on farther down on his back.  We had him in a small not even a third gallon betta cup until about 2 weeks ago we bought a 1 gallon take with undergravel filter and started for 1 day before we put the betta (hungry) into to it.  Every thing was fine and then we noticed he is missing a scale. We checked the PH and it was about 7.2 I know they like it at 7 and since has gotten back to that.  I have done a lot of research but nothing is popping out to what he has.  There is no rough edges in the tank or in the decorations.  Please let me know what you think.

Answer
Hello,

It is possible that your betta simply lost a couple scales, and is not necessarily a sign of disease. He may simply have bumped something and had them come loose. You may want to add some aquarium salt to the water, just to help prevent any infection in the open area.

You should also monitor your betta for any other signs of disease. Observe him carefully for at least the next week. If nothing else pops up, then he is likely perfectly fine.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Stephanie
