Gouramis feeling down?

Question
Hi, I recently bought a pair of gouramis(not sure exactly what type they are) and 2 days ago I noticed that they were laying on the bottom of the tank.  They weren't dead but they wouldn't swim around either.  I've done full tests on my water and made sure to acclimate them properly to my tank so they wouldn't go into shock.  Just yesterday one of the started swimming a little around the tank, but it stayed towards one corner of the tank.  He seemed to be getting better, but today I found him lying on the bottom of the tank again near the same corner.  My other gourami was pretty lively after I acclimated him to the tank, which is why I'm worried about him the most.  He enjoyed swimming to the bottom of the tank and let the bubbles from the strip I placed on the bottom towards the back of the tank carry him up.  I saw him up for a very little time yesterday but he never went near the bubbles, and he hasn't been up since then.  I'm not sure what to do to help them out, and no one else that I've talked to knows either.

Sincerely,
Adam

Answer
It sounds like Hexamita but does he have these symptoms as well?
-slimy, white mucous feces
-fish hiding in the corner it's head down
-head above the eyes gets thin, they blacken in color
-swim backwards

If it has these, than it is hexamita. An effective treatment is the drug metronidazole.
