Fungus clear

Question
I have 3 tanks in my home and 2 of them are Beta's and 1 Goldfish. I was wondering if I could put a tablet of the fungus clear right in with the fish It doesn't really say whether or not to remove them first. I have noticed that one of the beta's tail fin is looking like it may have rot. I keep them clean and never allow fungus to gather in the tanks but I am concerned. Please any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Answer
Dear Aimee,
With the Jungle brand tablets, its Ok to just drop them in and let them start fizzing with the fish in the tank. I've used these before with no ill effects from the fishes part.

Before treating your tank, make sure your betta truly has fin-rot. Mis-medicating a tank can do more harm than good so just be for certain that your betta really is sick. For some help, I'll post some links to fin-rot pictures in bettas:

I have found that fin rot is quite rare in bettas if the tank is diligently cleaned. Dirty water conditions always encourage fish diseases to show up. If your betta does in fact turn out to have fin-rot, try to keep the water as pristine and clean as possible with daily large water changes until he gets better and keeping the gravel clean.
But again, your betta may not have fin rot. If it's just a little bit of fin missing, it usually doesn't mean anything bad. Sometimes bettas just tear their fins or snag them on plants or decorations. The fin should grow back and heal just fine. But make sure to look at those pictures in the links I provided.

Best wishes and I hope this helps!
Karen~
