Question
I week a go i purchased a Freshwater crab and 2 of its legs have fell of on one side what will happen? will it be alright or will they grow back?

Answer
hi Hasan:  Thank you for the interesting question.  There has been a lot of study of animals, etc that can regenerate limbs, tails, shells, etc.  Freshwater crabs as it turns out can regenerate limbs.  The real question comes from determining how your crab lost its legs in the first place?  Did the aquarium use a net to catch it? may the leg(s) have been injured by a fish?  If the injury is the result of a natural process such as a fish injury then I am fairly curtain that your crab will be just fine and eventually begin to grow new legs.  If the crab lost its two legs because of an infection then the crab is in serious trouble.  It gives me hope that the crab lost its legs due to injury as opposed to infection because the legs are on the same side of the body.  You may want to add an anti bacterial agent to your tank for the meantime and just keep your eye on the crab.  If you have other questions please let me know...
