Aquarium noise

Question
I recently purchased a 30 gal tank.  After the third day of operation I began to notice a 'popping' noise. I was concerned that this might indicate a structural problem with the tank or stand and as I do not wish to wake up to thirty gallons of water on the floor I decided to investigate.  I haven't found any flaw or defect in either the tank or stand.  I tried unplugging the filter, lights, and heater to see if it was a possible electrical problem but the noise persisted.  Is this a normal occurrence or should I take down the tank to go over it in more detail?

Answer
Seth,

I'm not sure what that sound would be and it isn't a normal sound.  I would investigate more thoroughly.

Make sure your tank is on a sturdy stand and that it is level.  Any flex in the flooring or stand could cause the tank to crack.

Also ensure the floor is sturdy and can support the weight of a tank.  A full 30 gallon tank can weigh upwards of 300 pounds.
