Freash water tank

Question
I had a 10 gallon fresh water tank that had algae so bad you couldn't see
through the glass. We had one fish in the tank that has managed to survive these
conditions for a long time. I decided to siphon out about 4 gallons of the water
into a bucket and put the fish in the bucket. I cleaned out the tank and
everything in it adding about 8 gallons of new tap water and one gallon of the
old water hoping to speed the cycling of the tank. I also added 1 and 1/2
teaspoons of stress coat to the water. My question is how long can the fish live
in the bucket? I don't want to throw it back into the tank with the new water
but will it be more likely to survive in the bucket for a few days or in the
tank? Are there any other options for how to keep this little fish alive?

Answer
Hello,

It well do better off in the tank, And what kind of fish is this? The algae problem well not be solved by making a water change though. Is what you well want to do is make sure your temperature is about 79 degrees. Also make sure your tank does not get more than 6-8 hours of light a day. You could also get algae remover products from the store to help remove this problem. Also make sure you are using a filter and that it is changed every 2 weeks at most but recommended is 1 week. Also you want good ventilation at the top of the tank.

Thanks for your time,
