Do we need to have a heater in the tank? i have one we just have not put it in the tank yet.... we have had the tank set up for 2 months now and no deaths yet.....

Answer
Hi Chris;

If your fish are tropical and the temperature in your house ever drops below 75, you should put the heater in. It will keep the temperature stable. Fluctuations cause stress and stress causes disease. Especially the parasite known as "ich". It attacks when the tank temperature drops because the fish are stressed. Nasty little critter that could wipe out your whole tank. Yikes!

If you have cold water fish like goldfish, danios, white clouds or guppies, they don't need a heater.
