Question
I see numerous posts re use bleach, don't use bleach. I have a serious problem with hairy algae in both 55 and 29 gal tanks. I clean 1xweek, don't want to use chemicals, bought 2 bushy nosed plecos and some other algae eating fish (?). Do not leave light on, shut my shades so I live in darkness...The algae is getting into my powerheads, fake and real plants...HELP

Thanks

Answer
Turn off all the lights in the tank for about 4 days, put a blanket over the tank, make sure no light reaches it at all.

You could also get a couple siamese algae eaters. Or amano shrimp.

Or you could overdose on Flourish Excel and solve the entire problem in a day.
