Question
QUESTION: Hey there, I have a 90 gallon tank with 3 parrots and 2 other fish that I'm not sure of. My uncle gave them to me and they're supposedly hybrids of another fish. Lately I noticed one of them has a pink sac like thing hanging from where it usually excretes its wastes. I thought it might be a sac of eggs?

ANSWER: Hi Donna:  Depending on what kind of fish it is... it may be that the fish is going to lay eggs...or fertilize eggs that are about to be laid.  Fish change in that area of their bodies during spawning.  Have you tested your water chemistry??? Are the fish eating? Are they pooping? how long have you had them?  let me know... dave

Answer
Those look like either flowerhorn or jewel cichlids.  It may be the result of trying to spawn or her laying eggs. It may also be a bite from the parrot fish... could that be possible?  How long has she had it??? is she pooping? Eating? what is the water chemistry?
