Question
My inca apparently laid eggs. But the weird thing is that she did it on the outside of the tank. I found her on my kitchen counter so I put her back in the tank. Then I scooped the eggs off the tank, they looked like chewed gum, put the sack into the tank. None of my fish seem to bother the eggs. But why would the snail lay the eggs on the outside of the tank, and did I do the right thing by putting the eggs into the tank?

Answer
Hi Melissa:  Some aquatic snails lay eggs on dry land.  I would guess that is is a defense mechanism so that the eggs are not eaten.  They would in the wild probably lay eggs in a tidal zone where the eggs would be in the water sometimes and dry other times.  I do not know if the eggs will hatch underwater... but you will find that out in a day or two.  dave
