Will these get along?

hi, i have recently bough a red devil and put it in my 30 gallon tank....i was wondering if it was possible or advisible to possibly put an african in with it?

Hi Phil,
Red Devils grow quite large, a foot long or so isn't uncommon and males can grow bigger.

I worry that the red devil would want to claim the entire 30 gallon as his territory only. Or it could even be the other way around with the African taking over. Not likely a good combination overall.

So its best to leave your Red devil to have his 30 gal to himself. He'd be quite a neat pet as the specimen fish. You may have to upgrade later to a bigger tank though.
