Paradise Fish seems unhappy

Question
Hi
I previously asked Karen fields about my two paradise fish who are not getting on well. You can read her answer at: http://en.allexperts.com/q/Freshwater-Aquarium-3216/2008/11/Paradise-Fish-seems-...

I was just wondering if the introduction of a small shoal of minnows or similar would help to 'spread the load' on my poor bullied fish or would my other paradise just continue to hunt its one victim out?

Answer
Hey Richard

I had two paradise fish which were in a 10 gallon and I thought they were male and female as the male was chasing the other one but the smaller one turned out to be a young male so he is out now.

Paradise are really aggressive to each other like bettas.  They need to be solo so I suggest you take one out :)

The paradise fish would devour the minnows as soon as they are introduced.  I know as I made the sme mistake so i am glad your doing your research by asking :)

Just stick to the paradise fish and maybe add 3 peppered cories as these cories can endure cold temperaturs  due to the ice that is deposited into their lakes and rivers in the wild, or you add a biorb heater and put 3 other different cories.

Good Luck    Jack
