Goldfish with tiny pectoral fins

Question
Hi Michael,
I have a small goldfish that is in a 10 gallon tank with 4 other small goldfish.  I have noticed that its pectoral fins are really small and it seems to have a little trouble swimming to the bottom of the tank.  It also floats at the top.  Is this due to the fact that the fins are really small?  Should I put it in another tank or leave it in the original tank and do a water change?  I've read online about a product called Melafix and am wondering if that will help my little fish get his fins back.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Side note: My fish seems to be eating well (although he floats up here and there while feeding) and it still swims all over the tank with the rest of the fish. :)

Answer
hello Kelly,

This should not be because of the pectoral fin. and even with small fins they should be able to keep upright and swim. I would instantly get a full water check for free from your local petsmart and go from there. Melafix will help with growing fins back but can be stressfull to the fish if added to much to often.

Please get back to me so that I know how to further help you.
