Question
when i test my water for the ph level and the water is bright yellow....do i want to use ph up or ph down to bring the ph to a more suitable and safe level for my fish....I have a tropical tank and have had it set up for a long time now (1 yr)...my angels just died:(....thanks for reading my question

Answer
Cynthia,

With my water tester, yellow means low Ph. If on your tester it shows it high, meaning higher than what you tank needs, then its Ph down. I do not use any of those. If my Ph is off, that also means my ammonia will be off. Usually all I do is a water change. If it is very high I will do a 50 to 75% water change and then 25% water changes everyday until the ammonia and Ph are at the right level. Try doing that instead of adding a chemical to your tank. Make sure you change the filter at least once a month to keep everything under control.
