Question
Hi Susan,

So far the female betta I bought is doing well! I have moved my male betta into the 20L aquarium as it finished cycling and the female is now in the 54L tank as I feel she is recovering well. I am still treating for fin rot. I think it is now just healing for the male and female.

Anyway, I bought two female dwarf gourami's for my 54L aquarium today and they are at full size (around 5.5cm) and get along well with the other fish.

At the moment I have 1 female betta, 2 green corydoras, 2 dwarf gourami and 2 apple snails which do not occupy much space anyway. I was wondering if the tank is fully stocked or if I would be able to put in about 4 glow light tetras?

I am also thinking about getting rid of my apple snails and giving it to my friend who has a pond of mollies and sword tails. I feel they will do better that way anyway.

I find it hard to tell with different species of fish, and I have only been keeping fish for around 4-5 months

Thanks for the help and have a good Christmas!

Answer
Hi Alexander,
im so glad your betta girl is doing better! And im sure your male betta is happy to have the 20l to himself. :-)

I feel 4 glowlight tetras would be fine in your aquarium. They do not produce a large bioload as they are such small fish.  And the current fish you have do not present a very large impact on the system either, especially if the snails are relocated. Lucky to find female dwarf gouramis! Around where i live in Texas, stores will only sell males! Just for the fact that they are the most colorful but i feel the females are quite pretty themselves.

Those Apple snails will thrive in that pond! If the swords and mollies are doing well so will the snails, provided they get enoughj to eat. They may even breed.

Youre most welcome and while you have only been keeping fish for 4-5 months i feel you have learned quite a lot! And the best fishkeepers are those that never stop learning. :-)

Thank you and have a wonderful christmas yourself!
Susan~
