Strange Beta behavior

Question
I've had my beta fish for about two years now, and lately I've noticed some strange behavior... He won't eat, even when I put it right on his nose, I haven't seen him eat in a few days. Also, his fins are starting to fray at the ends, does that mean his bowl is too small...becuase his bowl is about one gallon. His colors are starting to fade. I hope he isn't dying :(
Please let me know
Thanks, Jennifer

Answer
Hi Jennifer;

You've given him excellent care for him to have lived such a long life. Bettas live to be 2 or 3 years and are already almost a year old when we buy them in the stores. He is a very old little fella and it just may be his time. Change his water more often right now to help him feel better. Keeping his tank as close to 82 degrees as possible is better for him too.

I wish I had better news, I'm so sorry.....
