Black Molly Momma

I have two Black Molly fish turns out the one was pregnant.  She had her babies this afternoon.  Now in our tank there these baby black mollys swimming plus a few other tropical fish plus one more Black Molly.  I bought the grass so they can hide.  However i think some got eaten.  The momma Molly has been on her back all day and i'm getting worried is it possible she died during the birth or should i leave her in the tank?

Hi Amy;

It is unfortunately common for livebearers to die as they drop babies. If she doesn't look like she is breathing she may indeed be gone. Poor thing. Many babies are often eaten too. It's just part of nature. To save them all you may have to get them their own tank.
