QuestionHi,
I'm considering purchasing a second hand aquarium which has been used for marine fish. I will be transferring several guppies and platies to the new aquarium and wondered if there was anything I should do to clean/prepare it to make it a suitable environment for freshwater fish?
Many thanks, Liz
AnswerHi there liz!
The easiest way is to use warm water and a sponge and just rub down the whole tank. Live bearers can hadle salts, so it wont hurt them if a little gets left over.
If there is noticeable saltcreep, and it is a glass tank, use a razorblade against the surface flat, and scrape it off gently.
Congrats on the new tank. New tanks are always fun.
Thanks,
