I think I lost my fish due to dropsy. I was wondering if my aquarium is now contaminated? I don't want to kill any new fish by putting them in my tank. Thanks for this service. Cindi

Hi Cindi,
The problem is that dropsy isn't a disease per se, but rather a set of symptoms that can be caused by a variety of diseases.

Your best bet is to give the tank a good cleaning with lots of clean fresh water but do NOT use any soap or detergent on the tank or anything that goes in the tank. Soap is lethal to fish.
