Too early?

Question
I have a gold mickey platy and she is probably going to give birth within the next 2 weeks. I have already moved her ino a large breeding net. Is it too early to have done this? If  it is please tell me!

Answer
In my experience, it's best to do it about a week before, however, if she has not had them with you before, I doubt you know when exactly will be "the time".  You kind of get used to it after it happens a few times and you can keep track of it on the calendar.  I would just let her try to settle in in the net for now and ride it out, rather then stressing her by moving her back and forth and back again. Many may have differing opinions on this, but this way has always worked fine for me.  Just be sure you keep momma fed well and that there is some cover in there for the fry for when they are born.

Good luck.
